Free Daily Sudoku Puzzle

This ubiquitous Japanese logic puzzle is a firm favourite among puzzle fans. It has simple rules – fill the grid with the numbers 1 to 9 so that each number appears only once in every row, column and 3x3 block. Maths isn’t necessary, it’s just a case of logical deduction. Grids are usually 9x9 but larger, more complex versions are possible. There are also variations like Killer Sudoku which take the normal rules and add in basic arithmetic to create a different sort of challenge.

How to solve a Sudoku

Fill the grid with the numbers 1 to 9 so that each digit appears only once in every row, column and 3x3 block. There’s no maths involved, it’s just a case of logical deduction. Simply scan the cells for spaces where only one number can possibly fit.

You can also narrow down options for some boxes with this technique and use the Notes function to provisionally place numbers in the puzzle. There’s always the Check option to see how you’re doing too.
